Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 onion
  • 4-5 pieces of bacon
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 -1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 5 cloves of garlic diced or 1 spoonful of jarlic
  • Lawrey's seasoned salt (if you do not have, use paprika)
  • Tony Chachere's seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  • Slice whole head of cabbage into thin slices, rinse, and set aside
  • Brown 4-5 piecs of bacon in large dutch oven or pot
  • Dice 1 onion
  • Once bacon is browned and crispy, remove and set aside
  • Add diced onion to the pot
  • Add 1/2 stick of butter
  • Sautee the onion in bacon grease and butter until translucent
  • Add in sliced cabbage
  • Pour 1 cup of chicken broth into pot, 1.5 cups for a large head of cabbage
  • Add in garlic
  • Add salt and pepper to taste
  • Add in paprika to taste
  • Stir cabbage for about 15 minutes until it looks wilted and soft
  • Chop up the bacon and add to pot
  • Mix everything together and serve warm!
  • (Optional) Sprinkle Tony's on the top for a little kick
